I like it best when April 6th falls on Easter Sunday. Good Friday just isn’t the right day for it. I’ve never much liked calling it Good Friday, although I’ve heard some people make a good case for it. I prefer the name in Arabic- Mournful Friday. |
I wonder how we will perceive the date of resurrection … I guess since people will be largely resurrected en masse, it would be the same date for each group. I imagine that would be a date to remember … a new birthday of sorts. |
I know that “Good Friday” is rendered “Sexta Santa” or “Holy (Sacred?) Friday” in Portuguese. Wikipedia has its usual boatload of information on the subject. I like the German version best: Friday of Lamentation. |
Amira – I like the Arabic version too or the German (thanks ARJ) Danithew – that is an interesting question. I would guess it will be like a birthday, except we will actually remember our “birth” this time around (I presume). Do you think that the “morning of the first resurrection” refers to a single day though? It could be over a period of time… |
Devyn, that’s what I’m worried about. Guess I better start petitioning for the “twinkling of an eye” transition … much easier. |
No kidding – It may be the the first resurrection takes so long that it bumps up against the second resurrection – things may be done depending on how you “earn” it… That puts me at the back of the bus on that one… |
You might find a prior post of mine, entitled “April Sixth and the Conception of Jesus,” that touches on this subject of some interest: |
I agree strongly with Kevin. |
