Not so much a threadjack but a question:
I was visiting my sister and her Catholic husband when he related an experience he recently had in EQ. The teacher stated he had served his mission to Rome and all Catholics only worship the Saints and not Jesus. Naturally he took a little umbrage with that and corrected this belief (and outed himself as a non-member). This led to an after church discussion on praying to the Saints. His contention is praying to the Saints for intercession with God is no different than a LDS leader standing up and asking the membership to pray on behalf of Brother So and So who is sick. I told him it was a good point and I would have to think about it. Any thoughts?

Actually, heroin the opiate of the people. When heroin use dominated, the Harlem Rebirth occurred. Crime was down. People using crack lose their personal boundaries, can’t keep jobs and get paranoid/violent. Lots of sexual assaults on children among crack users. Heroin renders people impotent, makes them passive (it is why photographers and others feed it to models — it makes them more tractable), but doesn’t stop them from holding a job or caring for their children.

Devin, a number of wars have been fought over the drug trade. The British invaded China to stop the Chinese government from blocking the opium trade, much of the fighting in Lebanon has been over the major drug sites, etc. There is a lot of money tied up in drugs.
