My freshman year, there were a bunch of guys who didn't get invited to Preference (the girl's choice winter formal, so to speak). We organized an anti-Preference Guy's Night Out, and only those guys on our floor who didn't get asked were invited. Oh, we were excited. One of my friends (and future roommate) and I were in charge of the planning. We had a lot of guys coming -- some of them were fairly popular guys who were in between girlfriends (it wasn't a thing for losers). We openly bragged about how were "above it all". Then a girl I knew asked me to the dance 2 days before. I bailed on our anti-Preference GNO in about 30 seconds. I don’t know why, but this reminds of an experience at BYU.
