When I served in Japan 10 years ago, there was a well-known Japan-Payson connection. I only had one Paysonite companion, but there were five (5) Paysonite elders in my MTC district and many more in my mission. The apocryphal reason for this bizarre placement of so many future missionaries destined for one country in one small Utah town was a Japanese program at Payson High (indeed, the Paysonites I knew had previously studied the language) run by one RM at good old Payson High.

I wonder if this trend continues and if any other missions or mission languages had a similar portal to some rural town in Mormonland?
