D, I suspect that this whole thing will turn into a legal mess. I suspect he has some serious drug dependency issues that were probably enabled by unethical DR’s and staff people. For me his legacy revolves around all the allegations of sexual abuse of children. If these allegations are true which I suspect they probably are I doubt he is about to find peace in death. |
Legal mess indeed. His poor children. Odd names, veils over their faces, isolation. MJ was kind of like Elvis, but so much worse. Fame can be such a curse. |
My Dad and I were big MJ fans in the 80′s and early 90′s…. my Dad was known as the guy who could do the moonwalk in our ward as a kid…. he always did it for the ward talent show! Anyways, I was thinking about how it must’ve been to never have had a normal life. To think that he has been mobbed by people EVERYWHERE he went since he was just a young boy!!! I imagine this alone would warp someone’s sense of reality to some degree. I would be interested in learning how extreme fame might effect the way one thinks. My interest in MJ faded as things got more and more bizarre, but I will always be grateful for his early work and all he has contributed to the music industry. |
I think it’s simple. People gave him whatever he wanted. If that person wouldn’t, another would. Fatal to any human being. Coupled with a harsh and unnatural upbringing … |
I thought it was probably drug abuse as well. However reports are coming out that he had cancer and that his doctor (being sought by the LAPD) prescribed demerol unsupervised. That’s a pretty strong opiate. It’s possible it was tied to drug abuse. (He had a well known cocaine habit) But I’m giving him the benefit of doubt. Of course as unsavory and bizarre as his personal life was much of it is probably tied to an abusive childhood, the loss of innocence by being in the entertainment industry as a child, and then the problems of fame and drug abuse as an adult. |
1. bbell – not my space to judge but if those allegations are correct, you are correct 2. JA Benson – yep, I will take the $$ but not the fame anytime… 3. R@bster – agreed – I like to think of him pre-1990. Everything after that was worth forgetting about. |
I always got the feeling that he was disturbed and creepy, but i’m not %100 convinced that he was an actual child abuser. I really hope his kids turn out all right despite what they’ve been through. |
4. TigerTom – interesting, but some people make it through that unscathed, not many though 5. Clark – who knows what hell he went through 7. Ian Cook – amen – I hope those kids are ok |
We’ve all been judging OJ Simpson for years. We can judge Michael Jackson, in the court of public opinion, using the same standard. He’s been irrelevant musically for a decade. The bigger loss is Farrah Fawcett. |
there would be no other King of Pop like Michael Jackson. he would always be the King. |
