I have no dog in this fight, but I thought the uniforms worn on Saturday were goofy-looking. Then again, I think the same thing about the Chargers throwback uniforms (for the same reason), and lots of people like really like those. |
My only issue is that I think the merchandise looks better in the darker blue… but it has been revealed unto me that royal blue is the only true and living color for the football uniforms. I suppose I really have no problem with that sort of disconnect. |
I agree with jimbob. The new color made them look like clowns. Good thing they won, so at least they could be victorious clowns. |
Royal blue unis looked great. |
Hunter, This is not the new color. This is the old color. The new color is the awful one. |
Max Hall in this color is the epitome of class. Great guy… |
Fail. |
Mike S, The clothes make the man, right? |
I liked the royal blue for BYU this game but prefer the dark blue as the permanent color. PS – I LOVE the Charger’s throwback unis. |
Geoff J, If they would promise to break out the championship unis once a year I would be pleased. To me they look like the team that dominated the WAC forever. |
I loved the royal blue throw-backs. |
Tim J.: |
#8: A random John Clothes must make the man. Once he was back in regular clothes the next day, he was all humble and contrite, so it must have been the clothes. |
Makes sense, I suppose. Some people I know display basic human decency until they pull on their red hoodies and such. |
Mike S and SP Bailey, This is a discussion about the superiority of the one true color. I have no idea what you two are talking about but I suggest that you knock it off. |
It probably has something to do with the large screen font I’ve set as a result of my presbyopia, but to me the post reads in its entirety: “Those who are senÂsiÂtive on this issue might not want to Royal Blue Looks Great The royal blue uniÂforms are aweÂsome. The color of ch should scrap the dark blue and go back to the true Co” Any chance of making some sort of adjustment that will make this intelligible? I thought “Royal Blue” and “dark blue” both describe pretty much the same color–you know, like the color of the Kansas City Royals. But perhaps the true meaning of “Royal Blue” is made clear in the sealed portion of the post that has not yet come forth. |
I should add that back in the day, the Royals did wear light blue uniforms. Who of us who lived through it could ever forget the sight of George Brett storming out of the dugout in his powder blue pajamas, arms flailing, tobacco juice flying, to protest being called out for too much pine tar? |
#15: “superiority of the one true color” Going by words found in the Bible, red/reddish/redness = 64. If you include blood, which is also red (blood of Christ, etc.), there are 415 more. Blue/blueness only occurs 53. So talking about superiority of the one true color when you’re talking about shades of blue is a bit misleading. Perhaps you should be talking about red anyway. :-) |
Left Field, You might want to invest in a giant monitor. You can buy a quality 24 incher from Dell for a very reasonable price. The problem is that the photo is extra wide and throws off the formatting of the post a bit if you blow up you fonts without widening your browser window. Here’s the text: Those who are senÂsiÂtive on this issue might not want to read any further… {photo} The royal blue uniÂforms are aweÂsome. The color of chamÂpiÂons. BYU should scrap the dark blue and go back to the true Cougar Blue. |
Mike S, Are you suggesting that Christ was not royal? That he was not a blue blood? Insanity! That aside, I should clarify. I am simply stating that I really liked BYU’s throw back colors and I think it was a huge mistake to change them. I’m talking completely in terms of BYU’s one true color, and I should have been more specific. I am not expressing a red vs. blue preference in this post. We all know that the if the discussion were widened that cardinal would win. |
LOL, we found the game on TV and were a little thrown. Hey, BYU! The BYU game is on? But wait, those are the old uniforms! Aw, it must be an old game. But hey that guy is on this year’s team, it can’t be old. Who was BYU playing this week? It has to be the current week’s game. Maybe your Mom’s TV has weird coloring? This is definitely this week’s game, right? |
Royal Blue is very nice. I know nothing of BYU football or football in general. Don’t care. But I do know a spiritually uplifting color when I see it. |
As a person who has no dog in this fight (I’m from the east coast and have no relatives at BYU nor am likely too!) I have to comment that the new dark blue uniforms with the gold stripe down the helmet looks entirely too much like Notre Dame University for my comfort level. Quite honestly – just looking at the one picture )I thought it was ND instead of BYU. The original bright almost cobalt blue has been the uniform for BYU for SO many years that anything else will lead to confusion to those of us elderly dotterers who remember the “good old days” when we could glance at the screen on a Saturday afternoon and tell the teams apart! |
I’m with Geoff J. on this — it never hurts to get a hefty dose of nostalgia when the old colors are pulled out but the navy blue looks much better. |
I definitely prefer the old blue to the new blue. |
Prefer the old blue as well. |
Max Hall is a loser, despite what his record says. - Signed, BYU alum |
We know, however, which color Christ will be wearing, when he returns. It won’t be blue. |
The navy blue looks much better. Too bad they had to rip the colors off of Utah State to get a decent looking uni. |
queuno, I have no idea what it is you are talking about, but I suggest you keep it on topic. This post is for discussion of the colorful controversy following the recent BYU v Utah football game in which BYU wore clearly splendid uniforms yet some people just can’t accept that BYU should always wear royal blue. |
I agree with you, arj. The royal blue uniforms rock. |
And yet Cosmo the mascot was wearing a navy blue colored arm band above his furry elbow, suggesting either his solidarity with the old colors, his rejection of the new, or that perhaps there will be further truth pertaining to this matter to be revealed in the future. Keep lookin to Cosmo for clues.. |
Classy guy, that Cosmo… |
arj – Fine. I preferred the Crowton colors, and while I didn’t like his record, I preferred Crowton to the current coach. And my Max Hall comment was in reference to #6. Royal blue seems so 70s/early 80s, and it should go away, unless you’re wearing a throwback. |
The throwback uniform was fun for a game, but the dark blue is much more classy. We don’t want to be freaking Kentucky. |
