CHICAGO—A new translation of the Bible released this week directly mentions the Second Amendment on eight occasions, and includes a version of Psalm 23 that begins, “The Lord is my shepherd, and the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.” Positive early feedback praised the new edition for its clean design, readability, and beautiful rendering of proverbs that condemn the foolish ban on semiautomatic weapons for personal use. “For the Lord your God walks in the midst of your camp, to deliver you and give your enemies over to you,” Deuteronomy 23:14 reads. “Your camp shall be holy, and if that means exercising your constitutional right to purchase a firearm, then that’s your own damn business.” The leather-bound book also comes with a handsomely crafted carrying case and a fully loaded, nickel-plated Glock 17 8mm.

And fiction’s not a lot stranger than fact. There’s a movement for a “conservative” Bible translation. Some crazy stuff.

Tim, so all these Feminist liberal translations are not “crazy stuff”? Oh, but they are the “good guys” (oh sorry, “good people”) who hold the correct views. By the way, conservative Bible translations have been written many times over the (100s) of years. They are far from a new idea. Do you know exactly how many Bible translations have been done, with all kinds of ideology attached? The King James Bible was a “conservative” translation for its day.

I’m sure there are other out-there translations. But erasing what Christ said on the cross because it disagrees with your political viewpoints is turning your political viewpoints into your false idol.

I’m sure the Feminist liberal translations do the same type of thing, if not always quite as drastic.

Do we need to explain that “The Onion” is a fake news station? It seems at least one person is taking this seriously. Although, that might have to do with the fake british accent I try to do whenever I read the comments here.

My favorite though is when ‘The Onion’ did the Ninja parade. Nothing like seeing a large group of people stare at a road in hopes of seeing a invisible creature. :D

#6–I think all of us realize that.
The problem is that real organizations with real power are trying to do the same sort of thing (although maybe not quite so over-the-top). The fiction has its roots in truth.

Well, I’m not sure of the accuracy of this translation, but the prose is beautiful, and it retains the thees and thous, so it’s good enough for me.

Piffle. The Glock 17 in 8mm shoots blanks and polymer doesn’t plate. The real Glock 17 is chambered for 9mm and comes in Model T black.

Hmmm Peter you’ve made me wonder if this new edition will come with a gun. If so, I call the most expensive one since I haven’t the slightest idea how to shoot. Not that any robber would know that.
